Narrative Description
There are tremendous pressures on Physical Therapy administrators and staff to provide high quality clinical care as cost effectively as possible. The key question is AHow@ to accomplish this.
By examining the typical behaviors, attitudes and beliefs of physical therapists who are productive at very high levels and comparing those behaviors, attitudes and beliefs with physical therapists who are productive at lesser levels, the habits and patterns of each can be defined. This session will describe typical patterns of behavior and attitude for highly productive and lesser productive therapists. Suggested methods for adopting the style of the highly productive therapists and avoiding the barriers to productivity of the lesser productive therapists will also be discussed.
The organizational barriers to higher productivity will also be discussed and alternatives presented to the most common causes of unproductive time: documentation systems, scheduling systems and communications systems. Additionally, an overview of typical problems encountered in measuring and encouraging productivity will be presented.
This workshop will consist of group discussion, interactive learning sessions, and presentations designed to help Rehab managers and especially staff examine the characteristics of therapists with high and low output. An emphasis will be placed on worker and workgroup success strategies. Cases will focus on the examination of productivity strategies in the everyday world of the treating therapist and working manager. This workshop will benefit novice and experienced managers and staff in any of the rehab disciplines.
