Managing Physical Rehab
in a Managed Care Environment

Objectives

 Upon completion of the session on Managing Physical Rehab in a Managed Care Environment, each participant will be able to:

• Examine paradigms of reimbursement and their implications for managing personnel in a Rehab Department.
• Recognize non-financial behavior changes needed to succeed in a managed care environment.
• Develop management strategies that will assist staff in successfully making the transition to managed care
• Develop and utilize staff-directed managed care training materials effectively.

Narrative Description

This workshop will consist of group discussion, interactive learning sessions, and presentations designed to improve the management skills of the Rehab manager in making the transition to a managed care environment. An emphasis will be placed on the management of personnel in the managed care environment. This course will not address the development of managed care or capitated contracts, but rather will focus on the personnel management styles needed to succeed once those contracts are in effect. Cases will focus on the examination of clinical and managerial changes needed in the everyday world of the managed care clinic.

This workshop will benefit novice and experienced managers and staff in any of the rehab disciplines.
