Peter Kovacek is the President of Kovacek Management Services, Inc. Peter's ongoing clients include major hospital systems, private PT practices, rehab agencies, universities and managed care companies throughout the country. Peter received his undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his Masters of Science in Administration (with an emphasis on health care marketing) from Central Michigan University. He has been adjunct or part time faculty at Wayne State University and Oakland University since 1979 and is a frequent guest lecturer at other universities throughout the country.
Peter is currently President of the Section on Administration of APTA and immediate past.Vice President of the Acute Care/Hospital Clinical Practice Section. Peter is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of PT Magazine and Briefings on Rehabilitation Reimbursement and Regulation and a monthly Columnist for Advance Magazine. He is also Content Editor of the American Physical Therapy Association's Home Study Course on Business Skills.
In addition to having written over 100 articles and columns on PT and Rehab management, Peter is the author of two books on managing in a managed care environment and one book on productivity and quality improvement. He is co-author of "Managerial and Supervisory Principals for Physical Therapists" published by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins in 1998.
